The Mite Major team over the holiday break completed a four-game sweep at the Aston Silver Sticks Regional Mite A Tournament outscoring opponents 56 to 16 to claim the Regional Championship. This is the third championship final the Majors have been a part of in three tries. This year’s squad is comprised of half 2010 and half 2011 birth years. Their competition at the U8 level has been primarily against some of the best pure 2010 teams in the eastern part of the country as they have played teams from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland, and Massachusetts. They finish up the 2018 part of their campaign with a first-place ranking in the AA division of the EAHL (8-2-1) and an overall record of 24-9-3. Head Mite Director Keith Krem has been very happy with the skill level, work ethic, and success the whole Mite Program is experiencing this season as all three Mite travel teams head into 2019 playing great hockey and the number of players in the program is at an all-time high. The Major team is looking forward to defending their first-place ranking in the EAHL Playoffs, the Steel City Shootout Tournament, the York Mite Madness Tournament, and playing several other top U8 teams in the New Year.
