Long has held Hockey Operation board positions such as Mite Coordinator, Head of Coaches, and VP of Hockey Operations with the Comets, Flames, and Phantoms youth since 2010. He is currently the VP of Hockey Operations of the Phantoms Youth. During his tenure over the past three years, the Phantoms Youth have sent 18 teams to the playoffs and sent 5 teams to District Championships, the most of any DVHL club.

Long played hockey for the Lehigh Valley Comets from U8 (Mite) through U14 (Bantam) and continued playing at The Hill School, in Pottstown Pennsylvania through his senior year. He also played highly competitive golf up and down the east coast, which included a trip to the Pennsylvania State Amateur at the age of 17.
